Say what you will about game crunch, but would a little extra time be the worst thing for a game currently? Rockstar may be at the center of this “issue,” but why do they even feel the need to rush these games out? Are we hurting for something to play so badly right now that we couldn’t live without Red Dead Redemption 2 for another six months?
Focusing on a new setting and cast of characters can be a hard feat to pull of in a sequel. Look no further than the second season of True Detective for the best example of this. Thankfully, Life is Strange 2 pulls it off in a masterful way and Roads, the first installment of the sequel, sets up a story that we cannot wait to see play out.
It’s hard to argue with anyone that tells you Sony has all but won this console generation from the get go. From the moment Microsoft introduced us to the Xbox One, Sony was already in the lead. With a focus on being the center of your living room rather than focusing on the games, Microsoft gave Sony the chance to take back the lead in the console wars… a lead that they hadn’t seen since the PlayStation 2. While Sony has taken that lead and ran with it over the course of this generation, they now find themselves in a place where, if they aren’t careful, they’ll begin to fall behind again the same way they did last generation to the Xbox 360.
Shikhondo Soul Eater is a bullet hell shoot ‘em up set against the backdrop of Asian Mythology. Like most games in this genre, the story takes a back seat to the action. So unless you’re well versed in Asian culture, most of the story elements will be lost on you.
Electronauts can best be described as a virtual reality DJ simulation experience. If that doesn’t immediately spark your interest I don’t know what will. Unlike most rhythm games where you hit certain notes and avoid obstacles to complete a song, receive a high score and move on to the next song -Electronauts puts you in complete control. You are not just playing a song to completion, you’re helping to create it.
The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit opens with a shot of a snow filled yard and a lonely house. As the opening bars of Sufjan Steven’s song Death With Dignity begin to play, you immediately get the feeling that even though you haven’t been here before – something is familiar. This is Life is Strange.
Like the previous seasons, Captain Spirit captures the essence of what makes a Life is Strange game unique and then takes that formula and makes it feel fresh again. While the marketing for the game has been a little misleading, make no mistake, this is the prologue to Life is Strange 2.
One of the bright spots during the questionably necessary Square Enix E3 conference was the reveal of Babylon’s Fall.
Sony promised that we would get a deeper dive into their four biggest titles already announced and boy did they deliver. All the footage shown was incredible, the multiple settings and musical performances were insane, and we even were treated to some new game reveals.
E3 2018 is barely under way and already we have our first shadow dropped game. EA has announced and released Unravel Two. Unravel Two is the follow up to the semi successful first title EA released through their EA originals banner back in 2015.
