Focusing on a new setting and cast of characters can be a hard feat to pull of in a sequel. Look no further than the second season of True Detective for the best example of this. Thankfully, Life is Strange 2 pulls it off in a masterful way and Roads, the first installment of the sequel, sets up a story that we cannot wait to see play out.
Since the inception of VR we’ve been able to experience things not only in different ways but in ways we may not have been able to otherwise. It’s a safe assumption that anyone that puts on a VR headset is not lacking in the sight department and has never truly experienced blindness for themselves.
Welcome back to Platted That! This week we’re going to do a quick rundown of the biggest hit (so far) of 2018, and one of the best console exclusives ever made. While we would have preferred a more unique title to distinguish this sequel from its predecessors, one that didn’t force us to refer to the game as “God of War (2018),” we loved returning to the saga of Kratos and enjoyed the challenging but very doable Platinum Trophy it came with.
Electronauts can best be described as a virtual reality DJ simulation experience. If that doesn’t immediately spark your interest I don’t know what will. Unlike most rhythm games where you hit certain notes and avoid obstacles to complete a song, receive a high score and move on to the next song -Electronauts puts you in complete control. You are not just playing a song to completion, you’re helping to create it.
Talking to anyone about The Persistence is sure to almost always include comparisons to games like Resident Evil 7 and Dead Space, though it’s easy to see how these comparisons exist The Persistence is really doing something completely different. With Sci-Fi. Horror and Rogue-Like characteristics all rolled into one neat little package it’s hard to make any real direct comparisons to any of these games.
It takes a lot of balls to show a game three E3’s in a row and keep so much a secret. Each showing pulls back the curtain just a little bit more. This is a guy asking for our trust, and there is no reason not to give it. The Metal Gear series has pushed the medium forward in so many ways.
Sony promised that we would get a deeper dive into their four biggest titles already announced and boy did they deliver. All the footage shown was incredible, the multiple settings and musical performances were insane, and we even were treated to some new game reveals.
2MD: VR Football may be the closest a video game has come to making you feel like you’re actually on the gridiron. Whether you’re an avid football fan or just looking for an interesting VR experience on Sony’s platform there is plenty to be excited about here.
Killing Floor: Incursion is one of the most immersive games to date on Sony’s young VR platform. An impressive feet for a franchise that started as nothing more than a mod of Unreal Tournament over a decade ago. At first glance it looks like an easy game to pigeon hole, but the deeper you dive into Killing Floor: Incursion the more you find exactly how much is below the surface. The best way to describe the game is by starting off with the obvious – Resident Evil. Stopping there though wouldn’t do it justice at all. If it’s one part Resident Evil you could also say that Incursion is equal parts Unreal Tournament, Assassin’s Creed, and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter all rolled into a nice and neat, functioning, VR package.
VR was made with games like Sprint Vector in mind. Right off the bat before you even start a race, you feel like you are in an arena competing in front of an Olympic sized crowd. This is a feeling that most people never get to experience in their lives and it can be yours…
