Platted That! – Marvel’s Spider-Man

A couple times a year a really magical moment happens in my little gaming community. I’ll boot up my system, and cut a new game out of its plastic wrap. During the install I’ll down a soda or a cup of coffee…or a beer, and make sure my controllers are all charged. Then I’ll take a cursory look at my friend’s list, and see everyone is playing the same game. We’re all sharing the moment from Washington, D.C. to Pittsburgh, to Canada, and beyond. Playing through the opening hours of Spider-Man were fun and polished, but it was even more special knowing all my friends were enjoying it at the same time.

Why Bungie’s Big Leap Might Splat

In 2007, Bungie announced to an applauding audience of employees that the corporate yolk of oppression had been lifted. Microsoft, their glaring down corporate overlords, had been appeased. The great departure of this studio that produced the single greatest killer software of the original Xbox in Halo: Combat Evolved had cleared its final hurdle. And with it, they made a new deal with Activision, one that would allow them to keep full ownership of this grand new IP.

Head Down Arca’s Path VR – Review (PSVR)

Arca’s Path VR felt familiar in a comforting way, yet new all at the same time. Remember the game Labyrinth? No, it wasn’t a video game. Labyrinth was a little wooden box filled with a maze controlled by levers on both sides. You would drop a marble or ball bearing into the one end and have to tilt the maze in order to land the ball safely on the other side. The trick was this – the board was full of holes, quite literally. You had to keep the ball from falling into the holes in order to reach the finish line. Arca’s Path feels just like that – only now it’s been updated for the 21st Century.
