A couple of months ago we reviewed a new comedic dating sim game currently exclusive to the Steam store. In our review we said that Monster Prom is as much a dating sim as Scary Movie is a horror film. It follows the patterns of a normal dating sim and completely flips everything upside down. The beauty of a game like this is that anyone that loves and hates dating sims can find value here. To celebrate the first day of summer, the developers have released an update bringing all the colors and joys of summer to the undead high school. We had a chance to dive into the update today so that we could share it with you.
Most of what you get here is purely aesthetic. The characters have received summer makeovers complete with Hawaiian shirts and bikinis. This just adds to the already ridiculous hilarity that the game has to offer. Seeing these monsters and beasts in their brightly colored summer gear will make the events of the game even more enjoyable than they already were.
Other redesigned areas of the game include the cafeteria and weekend background. They both received a fresh coat of paint for the summer update that makes them feel more like they belong in a beach town rather than a high school for monsters. They also look a lot better now that they better match the art of the school itself.
One of the biggest additions the update brings is Gallery Mode. This was something fans have been asking for and now their wishes have been granted. Not only can you earn art from the game as you uncover different story elements and endings, but you can unlock fan art as well. They plan to keep updating this with more fan art as time goes on so remember to keep checking back.
The last big element added to the update is a new secrete ending. We’ll keep this secret for now (considering it is a secret ending after all) but they’ve listened to fans and kept an eye on who the most popular character was and made them a special new secret ending.
