F1 2019 Wants To Win Best Sports Game This Year And It Shows

Games like F1 rely solely on the core fan base for their success, but if Codemasters has anything to say about that this year will change everything.

This is the deepest F1 game ever made and the inclusion of F2 racing shows that they aren’t messing around. For the first time ever you won’t just jump into F1 without paying your dues on the F2 circuit and earning your way onto the big stage. In an attempt to compete with sports titles like Madden and NHL as well as other racing games, they’ve essentially built two games in one – giving you a complete F1 and F2 experience.

Cars handle differently depending on the circuit in which you are racing. F2 is a more level playing field. All the cars will essentially handle the same since they are all manufactured equally, leaving the drivers to separate themselves and prove who belongs in the coveted F1 circuit. Upon moving up, the ability to customize your car is endless. You’ll spend a lot of time during your career in R&D. Sometimes this pays off in a big way. Maybe you’ve put a lot of time into features that will give you an edge over your competition, but sometimes you can put a lot of time and money into something just to have a rule change make your changes irreverent.

It’s these attentions to detail that make this game as close to the real life that it is imitating.

After races you’ll have interactions with the press and your rival drivers and choices that you make will have lasting effects on the rest of your career.

F1 2019 is ready to be in the conversation with sports and racing games during game of the year discussions and, if our closed-door demo is any indication, they’ll deserve it.

Normally F1 games release late in the season but this year that all changes. By moving the release date to June 28th instead of the normal August release window, they enable fans to race as their favorite drivers throughout the entirety of the season.
