3 out of 10: Episode 4 “Thank You For Being An Asset TO Our Company” – Review (PC)

A playable sitcom can not be an easy feat to pull off, but with episode 4 of their attempt to tackle the genre, Terrible Posture Games is really finding a good stride. I know it’s been mentioned in our prior reviews of past episodes, so we’ll get this out of the way early. It’s still unclear how events from the first episode will pay off, but the episodes are becoming so much fun we almost don’t even care. Who knew that an office comedy around a game studio could be so entertaining? Yet, here we are.

In this episode there are some big-time investors coming to visit in two days and the entire office needs a makeover. With less than 48 hours to pull this off and a budget of “make sure they have good return policies” it’s nearly an impossible thing to make happen. At the same time, someone has replaced the shark in the game with a much better 3D model and Viper is not happy about it. While Midge goes off to meet the lead engineer and get to the bottom of who messed with their art, Francine is in charge of redecorating the office.

Francine gets a little out of control when she finds a new discount store built around the idea of redecorating on a budget. Ugly 70’s couches and life sized dinosaurs are only a couple of the ridiculous things that she brings back from her first trip to the store – yes, there are multiple trips. The first mini game involves Francine and Kevin moving boxes around a truck in order to unload all the crap that she bought and take it into the office.

One of the items she picks up is a bunch of pseudo-engineers that take over the office like a heard of androids. They lock the team in the office and take control. The next mini-game may be the most fun we’ve had with the gameplay. You’ll partake in a fun beat ‘em up where you’ll take on waves of fake engineers with your fists and any weapons that you can pick up around the office, thanks to Francine’s “redecorating.”

Our adventure then follows Midge in the basement where a mini game has you running for your life in search of the lead engineer. Engineers are terrifying folk it would appear. You’ll need to dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge here – avoiding the engineers like the plague. If your gift appeases them, maybe they’ll help you on your quest.

Meanwhile, Viper is busy burning down the entire office in a last-ditch effort to free the rest of the team and rid the office of the fake engineers. For all the slack she got for decorating the office quite terribly, Jeb (the boss) was really quite pleased. He said, “none of it made any sense, so it must be good.” Unfortunately, not only were the decorations destroyed, the entire office was up in flames.

What will happen next? How does our story end? Stay tuned next week when all our questions are (hopefully) answered.
